An Admiralty Pattern 1 Dry Card Compass

dated Jan 11 1911, English, case stamped 'DENT', with 7½" compass card on a compensated white metal frame housed in a separate compartment to underside of the lid, compass body finished in black paint with lacquered brass fittings, inside finished in white, rotating top with folding sights, glass shades, silver scale engraved around the edge with two vernier scales, plumb bob, set of typed notes from the Admiralty Observatory, Slough, for the ‘Method of Determination of Magnetic Variation’, dated 13 July 1953, compass base, frame, support and case all stamped 241, in original mahogany case with leather strap and large clasps, case painted ‘PATT: 1 No B241’
