Dunscombe of Bristol, English, circa 1875, microscope height 49cm, signed 'N W DUNSCOMBE' to rear of Y shaped base, large plano-concave mirror, fully mechanical substage, iris diaphragm with wheel of stops for oblique illumination, dark ground condenser, Nicol prism polariser and analyser, coarse and fine focussing, Wenham prism in drawer at base of body tube, 5 objectives by Dunscombe 3" to 1/12" oil immersion, all in engraved cases, 1/2 inch upward with adjustment, body tubes with interocular adjustment, pair binocular eyepieces, high power C and Kelner eyepieces, rotating brass-mounted selenite, bulls-eye condenser, all in glazed mahogany case
