English, c.1900, signed along the collimator tube 'ADAM HILGER LTD LONDON ENGLAND', on a cast iron base painted in grey lacquer with three brass leveling feet, brass collimator tube with adjustable slit, finely finished French polished mahogany body with an internal prism and quartz lens, Leather bellows and adjustable quarter-plate holder with sets of plates taken in 1968 and a set of calibration plates by Hilger & Watts dated 1957, with an envelope addressed 'Photographic Plates, University of Oxford, Clarendon Laboratory Oxford Attn: Mr. C. G. Carrington, height 41cm
