Edgar Dean Mitchell, born on September 17, 1930, and passing away on February 4, 2016, was a highly accomplished individual who served in various roles throughout his career. He began his journey as a United States Navy officer and aviator, test pilot, aeronautical engineer, ufologist, and NASA astronaut.

In 1971, Mitchell served as the Lunar Module Pilot for the Apollo 14 mission. During this mission, he spent approximately nine hours conducting extravehicular activities on the lunar surface within the Fra Mauro Highlands region. As the sixth person to set foot on the Moon, Mitchell made significant contributions to scientific exploration during his time on the lunar surface.
