Oil painting on canvas, View of Temple Bar, London, copy of the original by John Collett (c.1725-80) painted in circa 1770.
The view is of the eastern-most extent of the Strand, looking towards Fleet Street through the arch of Temple Bar. The scene is busy with ladies shopping at a greengrocer's, a wig maker and a pair of tinkers and various other trades.
The banking premises of Child & Co were at No. 1 Fleet Street - immediately behind and to the right of Temple Bar as we look at it. For many years, the original painting was displayed in the bank's dining room and was removed in 1935 and taken to Osterley. A copy was made to hang in its place at the bank. The branch closed earlier this year (2022), its possible that this is the copy however it seems much earlier than 1935.
