A Globe Shaped Green Glass Chemist / Apothecary Bottle

Guaiacum, sometimes spelled Guajacum, is a genus of flowering plants belonging to the Zygophyllaceae family. This genus encompasses several species known for their medicinal properties. Historically, Guaiacum has played a significant role in traditional medicine. The resin extracted from Guaiacum trees was used by indigenous peoples in the Americas for its anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effects. It was particularly valued for treating rheumatism and arthritis. The resin was also employed as a diaphoretic, expectorant, and purgative. In the 16th century, Guaiacum gained popularity in Europe, where it was used to combat syphilis.
