A Very Fine Standard Yard For the Borough of Burnley, 1887

English, dated 1887, engraved along the front 'BOROUGH OF BURNLEY' and 'DOYLE & SON LONDON, 1900', the standard bed constructed of cast brass with a recess to accept the standard rod, the rod with corresponding number and exchequer stamps, with two ivory collars to prevent thermal transference when handling, in the original fitted French polished mahogany case with brass plaque to the lid for 'BOROUGH OF BURNLEY' and 'DOYLE & SON LONDON' case with both catches, lock no key, case length 105cm
