Another Online-Live Sale Success

Flints 19th March sale proved very successful. Our regular ‘General Cameras & Scientific Instruments’ sales are popular as they provide an opportunity for collectors to buy more affordable items, knowing they are still guaranteed Flints high standards of customer service.

Our buyers are very comfortable with our proven online-live format. This is run as a traditional auction – the auction is streamed live and run by an auctioneer. Sales are held with live internet bidding, commission and phone bids but no option to attend or bid in the room.

Tempting estimates ensured bidding was brisk on our on-line platforms, these combined with a good book of commission bids and the occasional phone bid ensured a sell-through rate of 94%

Aerial Camera sold for £955

Lots that stood out in the photographica section included a Thornton Pickard Altringham Mk. III.H aerial camera, sold for £955 including buyer’s premium (estimate £600-£800) and a Leica M4 sold for £2082 (est £1000-£2000).

Super-six lens sold for £5125

A 76mm f1.9 version of the sought-after Dallmeyer Super-Six lens sold for £5125 (est £3000-£4000). Interestingly, a small selection of cine films, 16mm and 9.5mm, estimated at £70-£100 sold for £955 including premium.

Sold for £857

The Scientific section yielded some good results from the interesting mixture of lots in this sale. As ever, there was strong demand for the 14 lots of Victorian microscope slides, with one box of 49 slides by different preparers selling for £490. A Smith & Beck brass microscope sold for £857 despite the condition issues detailed in the description. There is a growing interest in vintage computing, and a Powertrain Comp 80 microcomputer from c. 1979, estimated at £100-£200 sold for £515.
